Position: Traffic Manager
Location: New Berlin, Wisconsin
Reports to: Director of Programming and Director of Business Development
Position Summary
The Sportsman Channel, a national television channel providing hunting, shooting and fishing programming, is seeking a Traffic Manager to oversee the traffic operations of the channel. The Traffic Manager will be the key interface with Business Development, Programming and Quality Control departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the management processes and procedures of department.
- Define and implement policies, procedures and standards regarding overall operational performance of the department.
- Daily, weekly and monthly monitoring of revenue analysis, including dropped spot comparison in order to recommend changes within traffic or other departments to prevent further loss.
- Communicate and provide solutions to inventory needs with traffic and business development.
- Produce accurate daily program log.
- Seek out and develop new and efficient methods and updates for generating log activity and reports that will enhance programming.
- Manage input and accuracy of log generation through WideOrbit software with programming and sales department.
- Troubleshoot program schedule and feeds and any schedule updates/changes.
- Maintain accurate and timely information flow between programming and master control.
- Stay abreast of program/software changes.
- Assure that everything scheduled to be on the air occurs at the correct time.
- Handle urgent off hour calls and respond accordingly to coordinate proper resources for completion.
- Supervise traffic department personnel.
- Performs all other duties that may be required by the employer.
Qualifications
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and direction.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
- Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated initiative.
- Strong organization skills.
- Accurate typing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work after hours when necessary.
- Enthusiasm for the hunting, shooting and / or fishing lifestyle is a plus but not required.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency required. College degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in radio or cable television traffic.
- Experience with WideOrbit traffic system required.
