InterMedia Outdoors is seeking a motivated and experienced web developer to create, maintain, and modify our online products including: web sites, eNewsletters, banner ads, video, CMS modules and communication tools. It is expected that this person will form the nucleus of our growing web design and development team.
InterMedia Outdoors, Inc. is a multimedia company targeted exclusively to serving the information and entertainment needs of Outdoors Enthusiasts. We have the largest network of websites (23) dedicated to the world of hunting, shooting and fishing, supplying outstanding editorial content, video programming, marketplaces, discussion forums and more. Our websites form an integral part of InterMedia Outdoors’ 360° approach to serving Outdoors Enthusiasts via television/video, print, on-ground events, merchandise, mobile applications and the web.
Our web developer is responsible for key production elements of our web business including:
- Collaborating with design staff to develop new features and functionality within our current web framework
- Developing new sites in coordination with inside and third-party development teams
- Creating and maintaining advertising assets including: microsites, house ads and sponsored features
- Leading the development, and deployment of InterMedia’s multiple eNewsletter initiatives
- Maintaining and enhancing key functional aspects of our current websites.
Key Qualifications
- Mastery of HTML, XHTML, SQL, JavaScript, Ajax and CSS 2.0
- Strong knowledge of at least one of the following: Java/JSP, PHP, .NET
- Working knowledge of Photoshop; candidate should be proficient in the creation of Photoshop files, the conversion of these files into operational HTML code and the upload of the code/files into the CMS
- Familiarity with a CMS based web environment (such as Krang, Fatwire, Tridion)
- Experience in maintaining cross platform/browser compatibility and executing troubleshooting techniques
- Minimum of 3 years of web development experience
- At least some working experience with Flash is essential
- Deep understanding of, and affinity for, Web technologies
- A high level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong sense of ownership/initiative/personal responsibility
- Excellent multitasking abilities required to work on several projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree, required.
Preferred skills
- Experience in an online publishing environment, especially with emerging online strategies: user-generated content and community posting, online video, blogging, and editorial email
- Working knowledge of Linux and related technologies
- Experience working for an Enthusiast-focused/niche-targeted media company
- Interest/participation in the Outdoors: Hunting, Shooting and/or Fishing
